Bit late posting this but we’re in the process of doing our end of year show branding and this was my submission. The Name we have is Secret Salford Show so I went with the finger on lips idea.
It still needs work as these don’t quite have the desired effect but it’s gives a good idea of what I was going for.

Posters are finished! It’s a series of 8 that would go out over 8 days where a new line of the rhyme is revealed each day. For the first 7 the smaller logo is used which still links it with Jack Spratt but doesn’t give anything away. It’s only on the 8th day that the name Jack Spratt is used and all the information is visable, at this point the logo changes and information like their address, telephone number and even a QR Code to download to app appear. The posters also predominately used the font designed for the restaurant.
I actually like this, I’ll admit I was skeptical at first but I can defiantly see how it would work in the real world. It also keeps with a similar theme like the app and website due to the background, with a similar pattern people would be able to relate it to Jack Spratt because of the other material.
Saw this and thought it may be of use, enjoy.
The last piece of this is posters that will be used to advertise the restaurant. For this I’ve decided to go to the very core of the brand and use the nursery rhyme that the character came from however work backwards from the end revealing one line at a time.
Jack Sprat could eat no fat
His wife could eat no lean
And so betwixt the two of them
They licked the platter clean
Jack ate all the lean,
Joan ate all the fat.
The bone they picked it clean,
Then gave it to the cat
Jack Sprat was wheeling,
His wife by the ditch.
The barrow turned over,
And in she did pitch.
Says Jack, “She’ll be drowned!”
But Joan did reply,
“I don’t think I shall,
For the ditch is quite dry.”.
I thought about using the whole thing and maybe doing a verse at a time but the last 2 verses taken out of context are pretty morbid and that’s not the image I want to portray. So I’me going to use the first 2 verses instead, they both mention food however don’t mention Jack’s full name until the very last (or first) line which will be a nice reveal. On the last poster all the information will be present as well as the address and a message inviting people to come and check out the menu.
Jupiter looks quite nice in symbol form.
I thought that another great thing for the restaurant would be if they had an app where people could view the menu, book a table and get directions all on the go. People can view the menu and if anything takes their fancy they could book a table there an then alternatively if they just want to go in there’s a function that takes their current location and provides directions straight to Jack Spratt.
I kept the same theme as the website to make it familiar. One thing I could see with there current website is that things don’t flow as they could so I tried to incorporate this into the app, for example having buttons to both book a table and get directions from the menu page.
